Israel's Idolatry Must Be Addressed

Perspective

Years ago I told one so-called African American that the people brought over here from Africa's west coast were descendants of the Hebrews of the Bible and his immediate reply was "those people practice voodoo and witchcraft". Kind of sad... but that is how many of us think.

We will place this in it's proper Biblical perspective...

The Biblical Hebrews’ Idolatry Must Be Addressed:

If anyone is serious about finding the descendants of the Biblical Israelites today, one thing must seriously be considered - their idolatry.

All through the Old Testament God rebuked the Hebrews for serving other gods. But He still called them His people.

His first two commandments were detailed and very clear about this:

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments." ~ Ex 20:3-6

Idols were a problem of long standing. The first rebellion of the Hebrews centered around the golden calf made under Aaron's leadership in the wilderness (Ex 32:1)

A fatal flaw made by those claiming that they themselves, or other people are members of the Lost Tribes of Israel is that they overlook what the Bible says about the condition of the Hebrews when they went into exile. According to the scriptures, the Israelites had become deeply steeped in idolatry.

For this and other crimes against the Almighty, the punishment God brought on them was the invasion of their homelands first by the Assyrians, and then followed by the Babylonians who destroyed Israel and took the Hebrews into exile. Therefore, what the scriptures are telling us is that at the time of going into exile, the Hebrew people were hard-core idol worshippers.

They did not practice monotheism or so-called Judaism exclusively.

These are the facts, but for some strange reason when people make claims to being Hebrew, they conveniently ignore the truth stated in the Bible. If we allowed the Bible to guide us when looking for the Hebrews, we would know that, wherever we found them, many of them would be pagans practicing idolatry.

Very few will imagine that one of the main identifying marks for identifying members of the Lost Tribes of Israel is paganism.

"My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God." ~ Hosea 4:12

The truth is the scriptures tell us clearly that Israel turned out to be mostly a nation of idol worshippers. So when people speak of the lost tribes, hardly anyone thinks of them as idol worshippers. This is because the Israelites wrote the Bible, which is the holiest book on Earth. Idol worshippers and authors of holy books just don't go together in our minds.

It is therefore ironic that for people whom God personally raised as a nation, the identifier to recognize the descendants of the ancient Israelites is idolatry.

These descendants believe in the supreme God but in addition, they worship myriads of other gods and idols.
